Buffalo Bill and Cody, Wyoming

Traveling on Rte 34 W out of Estes Park, CO takes you through some spectacular scenery. We traveled alongside a swiftly flowing creek and through tall, majestic canyons.
Wished we didn’t have such a long day of travel. Loveland, CO has a sculpture garden and they had a real aesthetic sense here. All their commercial areas are landscaped beautifully.

                                                            So starkly beautiful

We can add CO and WY states to this trip upping our states visited to 10 if you count FL.

We kept seeing these massive sculptural billboards along the way to Cody

I’m always taken back when we travel and can see vast areas ahead like one can in some states. Wyoming is another state to add to that list of wide open country. I feel bad for the larger animals like the cows, deers and elks since there is no where for them to stand in shade. One sees a quantity of oil and windmill production along with hay fields by the acre. Otherwise, we can go for miles with no sign of civilization except for the fencing and electric poles.

We barely made it to our AirBnB, the Robin’s Nest before we headed out to the Cody Cattle Company for a dinner and show followed by the Cody Rodeo. Certainly, didn’t expect to be doing these types of adventures tonight. OMGosh!!!
The Western Room, so many great memories from our childhood, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans

Complete with half of the Roy Roger's Street set that Bob played with as a kid...his brother has the other half

This backyard I could have spent a day in just playing with the dogs and relaxing

We didn't have time to try out the hammock, too sad!

Robin, our hostess was a fountain of information since both she and her husband Bob are Yellowstone and the Tetons tours guides.

So happy that Mike and I are the type to jump at these type of activities!!! The buffet dinner was really delicious, the staff beyond friendly and helpful and the music fabulous!!! The music was so reminiscent of our youth watching all those cowboy shows and listening to Gene Autry among others. They got us out in time for the rodeo which was just down the road.
The Cody Cattle Company Dinner Theatre. Thanks to Robin, we had front row seats!!! YIPPEE!

When the Devil is Down in Georgia

We were told to sit in the Buzzard’s Roost, so we could look down into the animal holding pens and the chutes where they mounted the steers, bulls and broncos. The views from up here were so cool!!!

The holding pens before they perform...Hated to see these beautiful wild animals in pens but thankfully, they did look well cared for...

Since the Rodeo runs every night during the summer, the crowds can be lighter but this night, they were people from Italy, France and Germany that they announced...

Mike forgot his camera or this photo would have been clearer...

We just missed their professional rodeo individuals. What we saw were the younger ones trying to break in. It was so fun to see the talent, skill, courage and tenacity in these young people. Other than barrel racing like our friend Shirley, I can’t imagine wanting to learn any of these skills!!!  Thankfully, Robin our host warned us to take our jackets with us. As the sky darken, the temperatures dropped and the wind increased. Mike and I even with jackets ended up leaving before it was over because we were cold! We forgot what that felt like. LOL. Thanks to the cool temps and the perfect mattress,  we slept so well!!!

Now with the younger participants they wear protective chest vests and in some cases helmets with mouth guards. What a change from years ago!!!

Since Robin’s Nest is a B & B, I got my doggie & coffee fix at the same time. I threw Stella & Hanna, their balls while relaxing in their western Garden of Eden backyard. Robin fixed us a yummy breakfast while we talked with folks from MO & CO. Lovely start to our Yellowstone/Teton day.
